There are three types of main events that SOARS Project will organize. They are Symposium, Workshop and Tutorial. And some keynote speeches are presentations are in Others.
Symposium is the biggest event that SOARS Project organize. In symposium, there are some keynote speech, lectures about how to use SOARS, and also some presentations about researches that uses SOARS. This Symposium is like a small conference, all participants will discuss, present, hear and so on about SOARS.
Workshop is a three days long lecture and is called Summer School before 2011. In this workshop, there are two main keynote presentation. One is about total image of SOARS and the other is about the position of SOARS in the social science. Both of them are about one hours presentation and participants will know much about SOARS. In this workshop, there are also some lectures about how to use SOARS. Participants usually make several models step by step and they will learn almost all about SOARS in first 2days. The main event of this workshop is the group work. All participants are divided into several groups and each group is required to make a social simulation model in 24 hours with a presentation material. In the last day of this workshop, there is a time for presenting each group's model. All groups present their model and discuss with other groups.
Tutorial is a few hours short lecture, usually 2-3 hours, and there is a short presentation about SOARS and a lecture of how to use SOARS. In this Tutorial, participants make a very simple model by SOARS and they will know how easy it is to make a model by SOARS. Tutorial is usually organized as a workshop of a conference, a seminar of a faculty, a laboratory, a company and so on.
